Event Description

Every Sunday join the Kelowna Art Gallery back in person for Family Sundays art activities! Every Sunday, you and your family can join a member of our Gallery staff to take part in an enjoyable and exciting art activity based on one of our current exhibitions. Create a unique piece of artwork to take home with you whilst having fun exploring materials and techniques. Price: $5 per person Pre-Register: Click here As you might expect, things will look a little bit different, but we are excited to make art with you once again here at the Gallery. Please take a moment to review the new program guidelines below: Pre-registration is required and all participants must wear a mask. Those 12 years and older need to show proof of vaccine. Time slots are 45 minutes long and tables are available to book at 12:00, 1:00, 2:00 and 3:00. A maximum of 4 per table. Larger groups will need to book more than 1 table. The Gallery will not accommodate drop-in participants. Upcoming Schedule: November 7 | Moving Mannequins This Sunday, participants will build moving statues they can use for gestural drawing. It is inspired by Jane Everett’s drawing titled Girl that can be seen in A Year from Now. November 14 | Under the Sea This week’s activity is based on Angela Hansen’s colourful installation Brink that can be viewed in The Glass Gallery space. Families will have the opportunity to get creative with various art materials while learning about the importance of coral reefs. November 21 | When you crop a photo you tell a lie… This Sunday, families will make a collage using magazine cut-outs inspired by Fern Helfand’s lightbox photograph titled Interface/Disasters Spectacle in A Year from Now. November 28 | Expressive Painting This week, participants will have the opportunity to use different painting tools while looking at Shannon Ford’s super colourful bear paintings as inspiration. December 5 | Baffin Island Animals Visit the gallery this Sunday to create works of art inspired by the wildlife found near to artist Kenojuak Ashevak’s home on Baffin Island. December 12 | Inuit Inspired Printmaking This Sunday, participants will learn about the techniques used in Inuit art, before creating their own masterpiece. December 19 | Christmas Art Happy holidays! Join us this Sunday to create Christmas-themed artworks. December 26 | Gallery Closed (Boxing Day)
