Event Description

An Art Exhibition In The KAC Main Gallery at the Old Courthouse Cultural Centre Wed. May 8 to Sat. June 1, 2019 OPENING RECEPTION: Friday May 10, 7-9 pm Artist Statement: The horse and rider were an important aspects of the foundation of Kamloops. The ranching community is thriving in the Kamloops area, though it is not seen or understood by the changing demographics of the modern urban population. The allegory of the cowboy and his horse riding the grasslands is a romantic and historical iconographic image. The artist explores this lifestyle in a colourful and descriptive way. In addition the artist explores the artwork of portrait making. The works show how portraiture can express personality that is not possible with photography. The portrait exhibition has several examples of how the character or interest of the subject is expressed in paintings. The historic Lifestyle lives on. ~Garry For more info. visit - http://kamloopsarts.ca/event-calendar/#id=241&cid=914&wid=601
