Young Stars Classic begins with Canucks training camp in Penticton

PENTICTON - Hockey season is almost here again, and nowhere will that be more evident than Penticton's South Okanagan Events Centre this week.

The roster and schedule for the Vancouver Canucks Young Stars Classic Tournament was announced today, Aug. 31.

The tournament begins with the Canucks training camp on Sept. 10. Practices on the arena's main rink will be open to the public for free.

There are still some single game tickets available for the tournament at a cost of $15 for a single ticket and $25 for a double header ticket. Tickets can be purchased at, by phone at 1-877-763-2849, or in person at the Valley First Box Office at the events centre or the Wine Country Visitor Centre in Penticton.

The Young Stars tournament includes three games.

The Canucks are scheduled to play the Edmonton Oilers on Sept. 11 at 7:30 p.m. They play the Winnipeg Jets on Sept. 13 at 2 p.m and meet the Calgary Flames at 3:30 p.m. on Sept. 14. For a complete schedule go to the website.

The Canucks roster includes four players selected in the first round of the NHL entry draft; Jake Virtanen, Jared McCann, Hunter Shinkaruk and Brendan Gaunce. Jordan Subban, and West Kelowna native goaltender Jackson Whistle will also be attending.
