PENTICTON - A young woman wants to hear her father's voice and if she gets her wish it'll be for the first time in her entire life.

"I just want to see him and say hi. I want to tell him how happy I was growing up," Tanehja Dutchak said. "I just want to hear his voice."

Dutchak, 23, has never known her biological father but that hasn't stopped her from wondering what he's like, where he's from, what he does and even what he looks like. The young married mother of two does not even have a picture of the man, Billy Grant, 52, who shares half her genetic makeup. Instead, all she has is a name from her mother and silence from many of her father's old friends and co-workers.

"Everyone here knows my dad, but they won't tell me anything," she said, about where he is now or even what he was like. Her mother is the same. She would only give his name, he has had six children before Dutchak, he was a kickboxer in Kelowna, worked at Apex Mountain Resort and Silver Star Winter Mountain Resort in Vernon, and a vague description of him looking like country music star Alan Jackson.

She recently placed a classified ad on on Kijiji. Her husband supports her efforts she said. He lost his mother at a young age and knows what it's like having a single parent.

Dutchak said she wants nothing from the man. She just wants to know more about him, to meet him, and ask him about his life and to tell him about her happy childhood, her love of old cars and Oldsmobiles and what she's doing today. She would also tell him of her two children and her job as a seafood cook at a popular local eatery.

Dutchak would like anyone with information about Grant that might help her learn about or connect with her father to please drop a line at the Kijiji link or email her at mrs.oldsmobile71@gmail.com.
