Woman attacked by stranger on Victoria Street

KAMLOOPS - Police are asking for public assistance after a woman was reportedly chased and knocked to the ground by a stranger early Saturday morning.

A 41-year-old Kamloops woman was walking home around 1:30 a.m. on Saturday after leaving a downtown bar when an altercation occurred between First Avenue and Third Avenue on Victoria Street.

“The female believes she may have been chased and knocked to the ground,” said Kamloops RCMP Cpl. Cheryl Bush.

Bush said the woman told police she was also given a ride home by a good samaritan, but the woman’s recollection of the evening is fuzzy leaving police to try and piece together exactly what happened.

“She does not have any idea who this individual may have been,” she said. “Hopefully somebody saw something.”

Bush is asking anyone who may have been in the area and witnessed the incident to contact the police with information.

“You may have just thought it was two people who knew each other,” Bush said.

Anyone with information is asked to contact the local detachment at 250-828-3000.
