WolfPack earn two Canada West First All-Stars and two Rookie All-Stars in volleyball

KAMLOOPS - The Thompson Rivers University WolfPack have two of their volleyball players chosen as Canada West first team all-stars for the 2015-16 season. As well, two members of the ‘Pack men’s volleyball team were named as Canada West ‘all rookie’ players.

Iullia Pakhomenko (4th year, outside hitter, Donetsk, Ukraine) was named to the Canada West first all-star team. Pakohmenko was a first- team all-star last season as well.

In 2015-16, the Masters of Business student led the league and the country in kills per set (4.67) and kills (425). She was tied for the lead in service aces per set (0.55).

Brad Gunter (5th year, outside hitter, Courtney, B.C.) was named to the Canada West first team all-star for the third straight year. Gunter became the Canada West and CIS all time kills (1476) and points (1710) leader as he finished his university career. His stats this season saw him second in the league in kills per set (4.52) and kills (384) and led the league in service aces per set (0.41).

Meantime, the WolfPack’s two impressive middles: Sam Taylor Parks (Kelowna, B.C.) and Kyle Behiels (Edmonton, Alta.) were recognized for their fine play. Both were named to the Canada West all-rookie team.

Taylor Parks played in every match this season appearing in 87 sets. He had 86 kills, 21 service aces, 18 digs, 63 blocks and 71 block assists. Behiels played in 17 matches and 51 sets. He had 63 kills, 10 digs, five solo blocks and 25 block assists. He had 17 service aces and was in the top ten in service aces per set (0.33).
