UPDATE: Jura Mountain fire 70 per cent contained

PENTICTON - The wildfire burning near Jura Mountain remains 460 hectares in size and is still 70 per cent contained Sunday.

The blaze is burning near five kilometres southeast of Missezula Lake.

There are 27 firefighters, 4 helicopters, 9 pieces of heavy equipment with air tankers hitting the fire as needed, according to the B.C. Wildfire Management Branch.

The cause is under investigation.

EVACUATION ALERT:

The evacuation alert is in effect for 606 residences: 115 to 131 Augur Road; 112 Bankeir Place; 105 to 136 Country Lane; 120 to 145 Jellico Road; 4067 to 4131 Lakesyde Road; 150 to 223 Lakeview Road; 113 to 117 Lee CK PL; 102 to 272 Link Lake Road; 4088 to 4116 Meadow Cresent, 114 to 126 Muskoka Road; 131 and 143 Osprey Place; 110 to 231 Pinewood Drive; 143 Jellico Road; 1556 to 4600 Princeton-Summerland Road; 1364 to 1862 Shinish Creek Road; 118 to 149 Tee Pee Lakes Place and 186 Trout Main FSR Road.

Residents of these properties are encouraged to prepare for leave the premises if it is found necessary. Further notice will be given to residents if an evacuation order is issued.

If your property has been flagged for evacuation notice (meaning there is time before you will be asked to leave your home), you should locate everyone in the building and designate a Reception Centre outside the evacuation area in case you get separated; gather essential items, such as medications, valuable papers, immediate care needs for dependents and keepsakes; prepare to move and disabled persons, children, pets and livestock; arrange accomodation for your family as soon as possible — Reception Centres will be open if required; and monitor news sources for information on evacuation orders
