KAMLOOPS – The WHL Awards Luncheon and WHL Bantam Draft will be held in Calgary this week. The WHL Awards Banquet is on Wednesday, May 6, and the WHL Bantam Draft takes place on Thursday, May 7. Both events will be held in the at the Deerfoot Inn in Calgary, AB.
Blazers forward Cole Ully was named to the WHL’s Western Conference First All-Star Team. For a list of WHL Award nominees, follow this link.
The WHL Bantam Draft will start Thursday morning at 7:30am. The Blazers do not hold a pick in the first round, but have two picks in the top 25 as they will select 22nd and 25th overall.
Those eligible for the 2015 WHL Bantam Draft include graduating Bantam age players born in 1999 from the four Western Provinces and the states of Alaska, Arizona, California, Colorado, Hawaii, Idaho, Kansas, Minnesota, Montana, Nebraska, Nevada, New Mexico, North Dakota, Oklahoma, Oregon, South Dakota, Texas, Utah, Washington and Wyoming.
A few roster players previously chosen in the WHL Bantam Draft include Matt Needham, Cole Ully, Ryan Rehill, Nick Chyzowski, Quinn Benjafield and Jermaine Loewen.
The WHL Awards Luncheon and the WHL Bantam Draft will be available, free of charge, via LIVE webcast available at http://www.whl.ca/.
