Westbank traffic disruptions RapidBus & Brown Road projects underway

Motorists in Westbank Centre will have to get around without using portions of Elliott Road and Brown Road for a short time as two significant construction projects are now underway resulting in temporary road closures.

Brown Road is now closed from Highway 97 to just south of Bering Road until approximately the end of May as the District completes Phase 1 of the Brown Road Streetscape Improvement Project.

Motorists are advised to use Old Okanagan Highway and then proceed along Bering, Gossett, Apollo or Drought Roads to access area business, churches and residences. Some businesses and residences are also accessible via Hoskins Road, off Main Street (Highway 97 southbound).

The Brown Road Streetscape Improvement Project – Phase 1 is nearing completion with sidewalks, landscaping, street furniture, final paving and line painting still to be done.

Elliott Road, between Main Street (Highway 97 southbound) and Dobbin Road (Highway 97 northbound) is closed for the construction of a RapidBus transit exchange, expected to be open in July.

Motorists are advised to use Hebert Road, Old Okanagan Highway or Brown Road (south of Main Street) to avoid this section of Elliott.

The District of West Kelowna thanks the travelling public for their patience during these traffic disruptions
