WEST KELOWNA - The West Kelowna Warriors found that one goal was good enough tonight as Reed Gunville’s overtime winner sparks a 1-0 win over the Chilliwack Chiefs on Tuesday night, Oct. 4, at Royal LePage Place.

The Chiefs came hard at the Warriors to start, leading in shots by an 8-3 margin at one point in the frame but Warriors netminder Shane Farkas was dialed in, as he was all night, making 12 saves in the opening stanza.

The second period saw a bit of disarray, including a disallowed goal that went off the skate of Chiefs forward Linden Hora and was deemed to have been kicked in and was followed by a post shot from Anthony Vincent but the game remained scoreless with the shots reading 27-17 in favour of the visiting Chiefs.

The third period saw more shots and even more of Shane Farkas doing his best impression of a brick wall; stopping all 15 shots fired his way in the frame and all 42 that he saw through the course of regulation.

The Warriors also found the skinny red pipe in the regulation as Quin Foreman’s right circle try rang iron.

The game headed into overtime and didn’t take long to decide a winner as just 1:09 in, the Warriors Reed Gunville deflected home a Jake Harrison point shot to win the game. It is Gunville’s 4th goal of the season and he has now scored the Warriors last two goals in as many games.

Shane Farkas was as perfect as can be, making 42 saves for his first career BCHL shutout and his third victory of the season while Mark Sinclair is the hard luck loser tonight, stopping 28 of 29 shots in the overtime defeat.

The Warriors (5-3-0-0) are back in action Friday night when the home stand continues against the Salmon Arm Silverbacks (2-6-0-0). Puck drop is 7:00 p.m. with tickets available at the Warriors office or by calling Kim at 250-769-7051.
