WEST KELOWNA - The West Kelowna Warriors blanked the visiting Penticton Vees 2-0 in a goaltenders' duel Friday night, Dec. 18, at Royal LePage Place.

It was the first start in the BCHL for Matthew Greenfield and he made 41 saves for the shutout, robbing numerous Vees on some key plays throughout the hockey game.

The Vees were able to get the majority of the chances through 40 minutes, but it was Greenfield's rebound control and big saves which kept the game scoreless.

Late in the third period, a two-one-one with Connor Sodergren and Jonathan Desbiens lead to the game winning goal. Sodergren pushed the puck to the net, and after a scramble, Desbiens would put the loose puck into the yawning cage past Zachary Driscoll.

With about two minutes left in the game, Scott Allan's 140 foot hit the empty goal dead centre.

These two teams will meet again tonight in Penticton. The puck drops at 6 p.m. You can listen live at www.mixlr.com/bchlwarriors.
