PORT ALBERNI - The West Kelowna Warriors fell 4-2 to the Alberni Valley Bulldogs on Friday night, Dec. 11, in Port Alberni to open up their three game Vancouver Island road swing.

A scoreless first period didn’t see many chances, as the Warriors and Bulldogs tried to find a way to play against one another.

The Bulldogs opened the scoring in the second frame as Nathan Dingmann beat Tyler Anderson wide and put one past Brett Clark.

West Kelowna tied the game just over five minutes later on the power play. Kyle Marino poked the puck over the line off a scramble as Reed Gunville and Garrett Forster picked up the assists. Just 30 seconds later, Kylar Hope made it 2-1, stealing a puck behind the net while shorthanded and tucking it home.

The Warriors held a 21-16 edge in shots after 40 minutes.

Alberni Valley tied the game at 2-each just 22 seconds into the third period, as a short-handed goal was snapped home by Eric Margo.

Josh Adkins scored his first of two goals in the final period at 11:38, beating Clark with a wrister from the side boards, before scoring on a shorthanded breakaway.

The Warriors could not find a goal with the net empty to get within one goal.

West Kelowna will take on the Nanaimo Clippers tonight at Frank Crane Arena, with a 6 p.m. puck drop. Listen live at www.mixlr.com/bchlwarriors.
