Communities In Bloom
Symposium Volunteers - Communities In Bloom is looking for volunteers to help out for their C.I.B. Symposium and Awards event from Sept. 30 to Oct. 3. CIBC Run for the Cure Organizing Committee - Be part of the Canadian Breast Cancer Foundation CIBC Run for the Cure organizing committee and a dynamic team raising funds towards breast cancer research in your local community from Mar. to Nov. 2015 (Event takes place on Sun. Snow Angels Program Volunteers - The Snow Angels program is a service that provides snow removal for seniors with mobility issues and health concerns. Each time you shovel snow for a senior you will receive a FREE medium pepperoni pizza from Dominos! 17+ to volunteer. 250-828-0600.

Operation Red Nose
ORN Volunteers - Operation Red Nose is a designated driving service where volunteers drive clients and their vehicles home during the holidays. Volunteer positions include: drivers (21+ to volunteer), escort drivers, navigators (19+ to volunteer); office volunteers: dispatch, phone operators, greeters (16+ to volunteer). Times: 9 p.m. - 3 a.m. Dates are: Fri., Nov. 27 – Sat., Nov. 28; Fri., Dec. 4 – Sat., Dec. 5; Fri., Dec. 11 – Sat., Dec. 12; Fri., Dec. 18 – Sat., Dec. 19; Sat., Dec. 26; Thurs., Dec. 31. 250-320-0650.

Wildlife Park
Animal Diet Prep (Meat) Volunteers - The volunteers will assist our zookeepers in preparing the meat for some of our resident animals. The volunteers must not be squeamish as they will be handling raw meat, dead chicks, dead mice and insects. 18+ to volunteer. 250-573-3242 Ext: 226.

John Howard Society
Story Book Program Volunteers - The John Howard Society is looking for volunteers to help out with their Story Book Program at the Kamloops Regional Correctional Centre (KRCC). This program is to promote family communication between the inmates and their families by having the inmates narrate a story book where the child will be able to listen and view the book at the same time. The volunteers record story books that are read by an inmate for a child member of their family. The volunteers will then send the CD with the story book to the intended recipient. We are looking for a one hour a week commitment. A Corrections Canada Clearance, as well as a Criminal Record Check are required. 19+ to Volunteer. 250-434-1700 Ext: 510.

Kamloops RCMP Victim Services Unit
Victim Support Worker - Volunteers provide front line services to victims of crime. Services may include provision of emotional support, crisis intervention, referrals, information regarding the police investigation and court process, court orientation and accompaniment, and assistance completing applications for compensation, restitution and victim impact statements. Must hold a clean and valid BC drivers license, be willing to go through a comprehensive police security screening and be willing to commit to the Unit for a period of one year post training. We are looking for volunteers who are mature, reliable, and flexible, have excellent interpersonal/communication skills and have a vested interest in helping victims of crime. Telephone/Personal Shopping Volunteers - The volunteers will go grocery shopping with a senior or take grocery orders over the telephone and then shop for them at the North Kamloops Safeway in the Fortune Shopping Centre or at the Sahali Safeway in the Sahali Centre Mall (Thursday mornings). 17+ to volunteer. 250-828-0600.

Overlander Residential Care
Auxiliary Gift Shop Volunteers - Volunteers are needed to sell items, stock shelves, and assist residents with purchases. The volunteers should be reliable, responsible, enjoy spending time with seniors, comfortable giving change, and able to multitask. 19+ to volunteer. 250-554-5569.

Kamloops Players Society
General Maintenance Volunteers - The Kamloops Players Society are looking for volunteers to carry out the general maintenance of the theatre. Volunteer Office Administrative Assistants - You can gain experience in your field in a supportive environment. A minimum requirement of 3-6 hours per week is required and preference will be given to applicants willing to put in a 6 month or longer time commitment. We are looking for a friendly and approachable individual to volunteer at the front counter in our downtown office. Written and verbal English proficiency is required. 250-372-8313.

Overlander Residential Care
Fish Tank Volunteer Assistants - Overlander Residential Care is in need of volunteers to assist our expert fish tank keeper with maintaining our fish tank. The volunteers must be physically able to lift large pails of water to fill the empty tank, take directions well, enjoy spending time with seniors, and like fish. 16+ to volunteer. 250-554-5569.

YMCA/YWCA
Child Care Resource and Referral Volunteers - Volunteers are needed at our Interactive Play and Learn Centre for babies, toddlers, preschoolers and their primary caregivers to help with maintaining a safe environment as well as tidying and sanitizing toys. Assistance is also needed checking inventory in the toy lending library, with administrative tasks in the office, and with special events. 16+ to volunteer.
