KAMLOOPS - Yes, Mother’s Day is the weekend. And yes, you should probably do something to celebrate your mom. If you’re stuck on just how to do that, take a look at some of the events taking part around Kamloops this weekend.

The Cirque de la Symphonie at Sagebrush Theatre May 8 to 9 is a great treat for moms into the arts and if your mom is a pet lover, the SPCA FurBall on May 9 offers a fun night out in support of the local shelter.

On Sunday, May 10, officially Mother’s Day, you can start your day off with your choice of brunch options. Hoodoos, South Thompson Inn, Hotel 540, Scott’s Inn, Fireside Steakhouse and Bar and The Black Iron Restaurant at Tobiano are among the restaurants offering Mother’s Day brunch service. Heffley Creek Hall will also be hosting a brunch in conjunction with a craft fair from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.

If mom enjoys a good glass of wine you can check out the tasting rooms at Harper’s Trail (noon to 4 p.m.), Privato Vineyard and Winery (noon to 4 p.m.) or Sagewood Winery (1 to 5 p.m.) after brunch as well. All three tasting rooms are also open Saturday.

The B.C. Wildlife Park will be hosting Mother’s Day from 9:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. Uncle Chris the Clown will be performing and inflatables will be set up, in addition to the normal zoo activities including the miniature train, family farm and animal encounters.

The Aberdeen Neighbourhood Association is hosting a special Mother’s Day event. ‘Take a Walk and Plant a Bloom for Mom’ runs from noon to 4 p.m. at West Highlands Park. Stations and activities will be set up to learn about the park and the current stage of development, as well as the new community garden planned for the park. Free snacks and prizes will be available as well.
