Warmer weather this week in Kamloops

Riverside Park from the North Shore in Kamloops, Monday, Jan. 16, 2017.

KAMLOOPS - It’s not quite going to be T-shirt weather, but people in Kamloops should be able to put the parkas away this week.

Today, Jan. 16, the high is expected to get up to -3 Celsius with a 40 per cent chance of flurries on a mainly cloudy day. according to Environment Canada.

It might feel a bit colder though, thanks to an east wind blowing through at 20 kilometres per hour, with gusts up to 40 km/h. All that is expected to continue into the night, with a low of -2 C, 40 per cent chance of flurries and a wind gusting up to 50 km/h.

Tomorrow the high should reach 2 C with an overcast sky and a 40 per cent chance of flurries. However, the wind might be something to contend with, as it'll start the day around 30 km/h and gusting up to 50 km/h and increase in the afternoon, with gusts up to 70 km/h later in the day. That should decrease into the evening, with temperatures staying around 2 C, along with the 40 per cent chance of flurries.

Wednesday is the warm one, with 9 C predicted. That evening we’ll drop a few degrees to a low of 4 C, with skies still cloudy.

Thursday we can expect a mix of sun and cloud, with a high of 6 C. That evening we’ll drop back below freezing for a bit, with -2 C and cloudy periods.

Friday should max out around 3 C on yet another cloudy day, followed by another cloudy night at -2 C.

Normal temperatures for this time of year are highs of -1 C and lows of -8 C.
