OKANAGAN - Mother Nature appears to be playing nice with the kids either continuing or just starting out their spring break this weekend.
Environment Canada is calling for highs of 12 Celsius throughout the valley today, March 18, with highs up to 15 C expected over the rest of the weekend. The normal seasonal high at this time of year is 10 C. Overnight lows are expected to be near seasonal normals of 0 C tonight and Saturday night with a low of just 4 C expected Sunday night.
Sunny skies are expected today followed by a mix of sun and cloud Saturday and cloudy skies on Sunday. Winds gusting up to 50 kilometres per hour are expected in the Penticton area beginning late this morning and a chance of rain begins Sunday and continues through Monday.
If ski hill fun is in your weekend plans, expect highs of 1 C to 3 C over the weekend at both Big White and Silver Star. Today is expected to bring sunny skies to the ski hills, followed by a mix of sun and cloud Saturday and increasing cloud Sunday.
If backcountry travel is on the agenda, forecasters are warning you to take extra precautions following four avalanche-related deaths earlier this week in the Interior.
