Weekly Volunteer Highlights for June 9 to June 16, 2016

The Hamlets at Westsyde
Grand Parent Program Volunteers - The Hamlets at Westsyde is looking for volunteers to help support their Grand Parent Program – a cross-generational music and craft program with a local daycare group.  This program runs every 2nd Thursday in the morning. 16+ to volunteer. 250-579-9061

Kamloops Arts Council
Art in the Park Volunteers - The Kamloops Arts Council is looking for outgoing, energetic, and cheerful volunteers to help prepare for Art in the Park from June 30 to July 1 at Riverside Park. Many different positions: set-up/pack-up, prep, fundraisers, and "Ask Me"/Greeters. 14+ to volunteer and family volunteering friendly. Fundraising volunteers must be 19+ to volunteer. If you volunteer more than a total 4 hours for Art in the Park we’ll provide lunch for our onsite volunteers. 250-372-7323

Rotary Club of Kamloops Daybreak
Kamloops Ribfest Volunteers - On Thurs. Aug. 4 to Mon. Aug. 8 at Riverside Park, professional ribbers from Canada and the U.S. are coming to show off their cooking styles and their delicious rib recipes with entertainment and more. This is a major fundraiser for the Rotary Club of Kamloops Daybreak, who reinvests this money back into our community through youth and seniors initiatives. Dragon Boat Festival Volunteers - The Kamloops Dragon Boat Festival is looking for volunteers to help out with this year's festival on Aug. 6! Canadian Breast Cancer Foundation
CIBC Run for the Cure Organizing Committee – Interested in being part of team, raising much needed funds for breast cancer research? Join us on the Kamloops Run Committee and have fun putting your skills to work. It takes a community to put on an event from helping out on Run Day to project managing the committee. Positions: Co-Run Director, Fundraising; Co-Run Director, Logistics; Registration Coordinator; Route Coordinator; Volunteer Coordinator. 19+ to volunteer. Co-Run Directors will lead a committee of new and returning coordinators who meet monthly, and then bi-weekly in Sept. Cook/Baker Volunteers - The Volunteers will assist in cooking an assortment of baked goods, homemade soups, and other meal prep on a daily basis for our patients, families, and visitors. 19+ to volunteer. Childminding Volunteers – The volunteers will help watch children while their parents are in learning sessions Tuesday and/or Thursday mornings 10am – noon. The volunteers will assist the staff in the children’s area to watch the children, and be an extra set of eyes and ears. Kamloops Heritage Railway
Onboard Attendants - The Kamloops Heritage Railway (Steam Locomotive 2141) is looking for onboard attendants for our Spirit of Kamloops Railtours (Jul. and Aug). Duties: passenger safety and relations, helping passengers to board the train & seating them, watching for ongoing safety infractions, interacting and taking photos with the passengers, and serving drinks & snacks. 19+ to volunteer, must be physically fit, and proficient in English; shifts are Thursdays, Fridays, & Saturdays. manager@kamrail.com

Bowling Volunteers - The volunteers will help athletes get organized and stay on track during bowling practice, and to help ensure the positive supervision of up to 8 athletes. The volunteers should be good natured, and respectful of differences. Volunteer Office Administrative Assistants - You can gain experience in your field in a supportive environment. A minimum requirement of 3-6 hours per week is required and preference will be given to applicants willing to put in a 6 month or longer time commitment. Recreation Volunteers - The Hamlets at Westsyde provides assisted living and complex care services for seniors and young adults with acquired brain injuries.
