Weekly Volunteer Highlights for April 14 to April 21, 2016

Canadian Cancer Society
Door-to-Door Campaign Leaders - The Canadian Cancer Society is currently seeking highly motivated, and enthusiastic Leaders to engage and coordinate canvassers during the Daffodil Month Residential Door-to-Door Campaign in April. The Leaders will assist in recruiting canvassers within their community, help maintain team enthusiasm throughout the campaign, and ensure canvassers have all the tools they need to conduct the campaign. Prior to the campaign, Leaders receive materials from the Regional Office and distribute kits to canvassers. At the close of the campaign, they collect materials, reconcile the donations, and return all materials to the Regional Office. 19+ to volunteer. 1-800-403-8222 or 1-250-762-6381

Canadian Cancer Society
Pin Distribution Coordinators – The Canadian Cancer Society are in need of volunteers to distribute and collect retail pin boxes to high-traffic locations in their community from March to May. Pin Distribution Coordinators Duties: provide progress updates, share concerns and develop plans; contact and secure the continued support of previous pin partners; identify and secure new pin partners; provide a list of confirmed locations, contact names and number of boxes required per location; manage the delivery and return of all Daffodil resources; and participate in the campaign debrief. Arnica Artist Run Centre
Furniture Building Volunteers - Arnica is in need of volunteers to plan, and build some stools and benches for our art gallery. The volunteers will use their own woodworking tools & equipment in their own workshop. The volunteers will have to confirm their woodworking skills, and be able to collaborate on the project. 18+ to volunteer. Interior Community Services
Childminding Volunteers – The volunteers will help watch children while their parents are in learning sessions Tuesday and/or Thursday mornings 10am – noon. The volunteers will assist the staff in the children’s area to watch the children, and be an extra set of eyes and ears. Arnica Artist Run Centre
Public Media Volunteers - The volunteers will visit businesses in Kamloops to confirm if Arnica is allowed to place event posters at their business. Oncore Seniors Society
Food Hamper Delivery Volunteers - The Oncore Seniors Society is looking for volunteers to deliver food hampers, using their own vehicle, from the food bank once a month to homebound seniors in Kamloops. 17+ to volunteer. 250-828-0600

Kamloops Heritage Society
Board Members - The Kamloops Heritage Society is looking for board members who have a sincere interest in helping to preserve St. Andrews on the Square for future generations. The board members will be actively involved in fundraising, helping to make business decisions, and helping to cultivate relationships with the community to create cultural and educational opportunities. 19+ to volunteer. 250-377-4232

Developing World Connections
Administrative Assistant Volunteer - DWC is seeking a highly organized, detail-oriented volunteer whose primary role is to support the office staff through clerical and administrative duties. This position offers valuable experience for administrative management students and anyone with a passion for international development. Volunteers are highly valued members of the DWC team and contribute to making a significant difference in DWC’s ability to connect people and resources through international development. Extensive software and database skills are required, as well as Internet research abilities and strong communication skills. 18+ to volunteer. In exchange of a 1 year commitment of 16 hours per week the volunteer will receive a fully paid, two-week DWC international volunteer trip with flights (approx. value, $4,000). St. John Ambulance
Medical First Responder Volunteer Brigade - The volunteers will participate as first aid providers at community events. Minimum requirements: standard first aid course (or equivalent) with CPR-C, higher first aid knowledge is, of course, also welcomed. The Brigade offers applicable ongoing training to its members at no cost. The volunteers must commit to a minimum of 60 hours a year, and be available for all types of events. 18+ to volunteer. 250-372-3853

Kamloops Heritage Society
St. Andrews Volunteers - The Kamloops Heritage Society is looking for volunteers at St. Andrews on the Square for various events & duties. Volunteer Kamloops
Volunteer Office Administrative Assistants - You can gain experience in your field in a supportive environment. A minimum requirement of 3-6 hours per week is required and preference will be given to applicants willing to put in a 6 month or longer time commitment. CFBX-FM
On Air/Off Air Radio Volunteers - CFBX is an entirely volunteer run and programmed radio station and is always looking for energetic and creative volunteers to help out on air and off air. The volunteers do not need to be TRU students to get involved. Many different positions: reception, database management, programming (music, spoken word, any language), on air hosting (any language), audio editing, interviewing, and writing. 14+ to volunteer. 250-377-3988
