Western Canada Theatre
VW Turtle River Race Ticket Seller - Volunteers are needed to help Western Canada Theatre raise funds by selling raffle tickets for our 14th Annual VW Turtle River Race. Responsibilities include tracking the number of tickets sold during shifts, handling monies, documenting sales, and reporting to the fundraising coordinator. Volunteers should have good communication and numeracy skills. Event day is Sun. Sept. 20. 19+ to volunteer. 250-372-3216 Ext: 36.

AIMFoundation
Event Volunteers - The AIMFoundation is looking for volunteers to help out with the Walk/Run Career Mentorship event on Sept. 27.  Volunteer positions: registration/info table, race crew, first aid station, and post-race volunteers. CIBC Run for the Cure Organizing Committee - Be part of the Canadian Breast Cancer Foundation CIBC Run for the Cure organizing committee and a dynamic team raising funds towards breast cancer research in your local community from Mar. to Nov. 2015 (Event takes place on Sun. Scouts Canada - Kamloops Area
Section and Non-Section Scouters - The Kamloops Area Scouts are looking for volunteers to support their scouting programs. Positions are: Section Scouters - Working with a team of other Scouters to help youth (ages 5 – 26) down their Canadian path towards  a world of adventure, outdoor experience, friendship, and fun. This position requires a 1 year commitment. YMCA/YWCA
YMCA Youth Basketball League Team Coaches - The volunteers will coach kids aged 7-12 in weekly practices, and help to supervise Sunday games at different locations throughout the city. This is a non-competitive league that is meant to foster growth through sport. The coaches should be patient, understanding, and be a positive role model for all the participants. 16+ to volunteer. 250-376-4771.

Kamloops Art Council
Fundraising Volunteers - The Kamloops Arts Council is looking for individuals with fundraising or sales experience to assist with its fundraising initiatives. Duties may include securing prizes, selling raffle tickets at Art in the Park and other events. The volunteers should have a passion for arts and community, friendly, outgoing, personable, persistent, and enjoy engaging people in conversation. 19+ to volunteer. 250-372-7323.

The Gleaning Abundance Project
Harvest Volunteers - The Gleaning Abundance Project are looking for individual and group volunteers to help harvest excess fruit from residential trees. The volunteers will share in the harvest with the other shares going to the homeowners and various non-profits. 13+ to volunteer, and family volunteering friendly. Salvation Army - Thrift Store
Thrift Store Volunteers - Volunteers are needed for sorting, pricing, setting up displays, hanging clothes, organizing clothing racks, greeting customers and helping with their purchases. Schedules are set up in a way that works best for the volunteer and the agency. 16+ to volunteer. 250-376-1110.

Ponderosa Lodge
Recreation Program Volunteers - The volunteers will assist the staff with social outings, one-to-one, and/or group visits, and other activities such as: Garden Patch TLC helpers, spa treatments, cards, crib, board games, bingo, sing-a-longs, dancing, crafts, special events, shuffle board, teas, refreshments, dinners, shopping, Wii games, and reading, etc. The volunteers need to be reliable, responsible, have good communication skills, be punctual, and be able to physically push a wheelchair.  16+ to volunteer.  250-374-5671 Ext: 4410.

Canadian Mental Health Association - Kamloops
Hairdressing Volunteers - The volunteers will be cutting hair for individuals with long term mental illnesses. This is part of a program for building self-esteem. Oncore Seniors Society
Good Morning Program Caller - Volunteers will call seniors as a daily check on their well-being and as a friendly call each day from their homes. Volunteers make the calls between 9:00a.m and 11:00a.m., Monday through Friday, according to the client's preferences. If the client is unable to be reached, then an emergency contact person, arranged in advance, or a staff member will be called to check on the well-being of the client, and emergency steps taken if necessary. 17+ to volunteer. 250-828-0600.

The Gleaning Abundance Project
Harvest Leaders - The Gleaning Abundance Project are looking for Harvest Leaders to help ensure the success of each and every pick. They make sure all volunteers know how to pick and sort the fruit and use a ladder safely. They weigh the harvest, and coordinate the split and delivery. Our harvest leaders are personable, responsible and reliable people. 18+ to volunteer. Harvest season is June to November, 7 days a week, 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. 250-851-6111.

John Howard Society
Community Support Volunteers - Volunteers will work alongside the Community Support Workers to support men and women in life skills development and positive activities to enhance their quality of life and socialization. The clients are adults of all ages who are reintegrating into our community while on parole. Volunteers will be matched based on their experience, interests, and ability to work with the specific type of client.
