VANCOUVER - An online video showing the end of a teen's joy ride may be funny to viewers, but it wasn't a laughing matter for his mother or police.
The YouTube video of a white Porsche Cayenne repeatedly smashing into the walls of a garage in a failed parking attempt has received over 90,000 views in less than 24 hours.
Vancouver police spokesman Brian Montague says that before the video went viral it helped police locate a suspect in a hit and run last week involving a parked vehicle.
Police then discovered the Porsche belongs to a woman whose 16-year-old son took it without permission and that he doesn't have a driver's licence.
Montague says the teen is lucky no one was injured when he hit a parked vehicle and then further damaged his mother's Porsche while trying to squeeze it into a garage.
Montague says the youth is charged with hit and run, driving without due care and attention, and driving without a licence and is responsible for thousands of dollars in damage.
