Vernon RCMP looking to speak with people who fled Silver Star Road crash scene

VERNON - Mounties want to speak with the occupants of a vehicle that careened off Silver Star Road early this morning.

The crash happened around 2 a.m. today, July 4, in the 5100 block of Silver Star Road, but when police arrived at the scene, the driver was nowhere to be found. It is unknown how many occupants may have been in the vehicle.

“There are no signs or any reason to believe anyone was injured,” RCMP Const. KP Sidhu says. “It appears the people that were in the vehicle left prior to police arrival.”

Police believe there was only one vehicle involved in the crash, and say it appears the green SUV swerved, lost control and rolled off the road, landing on its roof.

“We are making efforts to make contact with the occupant of the vehicle,” Sidhu says.

Anyone with information about the crash, or who witnessed anything, is asked to contact the Vernon RCMP at 250-545-7171 or remain anonymous by calling Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477.
