As a man sped out of Kelowna in a stolen vehicle, Vernon mounties were waiting.
"At approximately 2:50 p.m. Sunday March 24th, officers from the Vernon office received an alert from Kelowna with respect to a stolen vehicle that was suspected of being on Hwy 97 heading towards Vernon," RCMP spokesperson Gord Molendyk said.
The vehicle was described as a 1999 Black Honda Civic.
"Our officers in a couple of unmarked cars located the vehicle, followed it until it stopped on 34th Street/19th Ave here in the City," Molendyk said.
When the suspect exited vehicle, police arrested the 37-year-old Salmon Arm man without incident.
"The suspect was also found to be in possession of an amount of methamphetamine and cocaine," Molendyk said.
The suspect is in custody and expected to appear in court later today.
