VERNON - Start the day winning a jar of jam and finish it watching the fireworks.

There are Canada Day activities to fill the whole day in Vernon, starting at Davison Orchards. The Davison family will be dressing up in patriotic red and white, and putting on a barbeque until 4 p.m. They'll also be giving away free jars of fruit toppings to the first 50 people that come to the farm.

Starting at 1 p.m., celebrations will launch in Polson Park. Games, face-painting, bouncy castles, food vendors and entertainment will run all afternoon.

After it gets dark, around 10:30 p.m., the annual fireworks display will hit the sky. Onlookers can gather at the DND grounds to watch the show.

Canada Day celebrations in Armstrong will kick off at 10:50 a.m. in Memorial Park and include live music, free swimming, games and food vendors.
