Someone's been messing with fire hydrants in West Kelowna and the district wants to know who.

The DWK is asking for public assistance in reporting suspicious activity after five fire hydrants were tampered with in the evening hours from Jan. 15 to Jan. 17. The vandalism caused significant water leakage and compromised the hydrants' operation.

Hydrants tampered with are located at Ingram and Brown Roads, Asquith Road, Shannon Ridge Drive and Ensign Way, Smith Creek Road and Vineyard Drive. The hydrants have been repaired.

Tampering with public infrastructure and emergency equipment is illegal and the district has notified the West Kelowna RCMP of this vandalism.

Anyone with information or who observes suspicious activity near fire hydrants is asked to contact West Kelowna RCMP at 250-768-2880 or Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477.
