VERNON - The installation of arena boards at Priest Valley Arena has been completed under budget and a week ahead of schedule.
The installation of the new boards was a major maintenance project for Greater Vernon Recreation Services.
The contract was awarded to Riley Manufacturing of Woodstock, Ont., with a budget of $270,000.
The final project was completed on July 20, one week ahead of schedule and $157,000 under budget.
These boards are the same standard as those in Kal Tire Place, with aluminum dasher boards and taller glass than the previous wood construction boards.
An upgrade was also added that will allow for a timekeeper or scorekeeper to enter or exit the timekeeper box area without having to stop the play or the game.
The ice in the Priest Valley will be installed July 27 to prepare the building for the Greater Vernon Minor Hockey Summer Hockey School.
