Underused food truck program returning to downtown Kamloops

KAMLOOPS - Food trucks will be allowed into downtown Kamloops again this year.

Planning supervisor Eric Beach says the city is bringing food trucks back to Gaglardi Square. They will be allowed to park and serve customers on the sidewalk of Seymour Street for part of the spring and summer.

Two trucks will be allowed during weekdays from mid-May to October and only one on weekends.

The program is three years old but no trucks participated last year. Business license inspector Shellie Clark says six trucks were part of the first year of the program.

Currently there are four licensed food trucks in Kamloops.

Clark says two food trucks have expressed an interest in access to Gaglardi Square.

“By the time we run the program we may have more,” she says.
