KAMLOOPS - Two teens were sent to hospital with serious but non life-threatening injuries after they were struck by a car while in a crosswalk last night, police say.

The two 17-year-old boys were at Highway 1 and Tanager Road around 8 p.m., according to RCMP Cpl. Cheryl Bush. They were in the crosswalk when they were struck by a westbound car.

"Several witnesses indicated that the setting sun was extremely bright for westbound traffic at that point in time and that it was likely a contributing factor," Bush says in a release.

Traffic was down to one lane while emergency crews attended the scene and police investigated.
