Two dead in Vernon: deaths are "suspicious"

UPDATE: March 4, 2013- 5:21 p.m.

Some residents in the Vernon area where two people were found dead this morning say they aren't all that surprised to see crime there.

Two bodies were discovered in a Hartnell Rd. home early Monday morning. Police have yet to identify the dead, saying only that the deaths are "suspicious."

One neighbour, who asked not to be named to protect her identity, said a new family with two parents and two kids, moved in last summer. She said she's seen people coming in and out of the house on a regular basis and said marijuana could often be smelled there.

She did not know the name of the family and said they kept to themselves.

The Hartnell Rd. area is remote, with considerable distance between houses. Gord Molendyk, spokesperson for the RCMP, said the 911 call came this morning from someone inside the residence.

A police car is stationed in the driveway, and officers could be seen moving items from the house earlier today.
