Two Blazers picked at NHL Draft

KAMLOOPS - The 2013 NHL Draft saw two Kamloops Blazers chosen this past weekend. Forward JC Lipon was ranked at 83 heading into the draft and was selected by the Winnipeg Jets in the third round, 91 overall. With a final ranking of 92, Cole Ully was chosen in the fifth round, 131 overall, by the Dallas Stars.

Scoring 35 points in 13 games in October and helping to lead the Blazers to a perfect month Lipon had a strong season with the Blazers. At 6' and 183 pounds, the Regina, Sask. native finished the season with 36 goals and a total of 89 points. Lipon also led the Blazers in scoring during the playoffs with 23 points in only 15 games.

Ully also had a breakout season with the Blazers, with 22 goals and 28 assists. The 5'11" 165 pound forward from Calgary was originally the Blazers second round selection in the 2010 WHL Bantam Draft. The now 18-year-old will attend the Stars development camp this upcoming week.
