The Thompson Rivers University WolfPack women’s volleyball team are hoping that it will be ‘home sweet home’ this weekend as they entertain the Mount Royal University Cougars in Canada West play.

The WolfPack—who were given honorable mention this week in the USport top 10 rankings—have a .500 record after a weekend sweep in Brandon (Nov 4-5).   They entertain the Cougars for matches on the Warner Rentals court at the Tournament Capital Centre Friday and Saturday (Nov 11-12).

Mount Royal is .500 as well (1-1) after splitting with Manitoba two weeks ago.

“Every weekend is a big one and this is no different,” stated TRU head coach Chad Grimm. “Mount Royal is a tough team who made the playoffs last year. I think they are even strong this year and there will be two tough matches.”

When asked about what aspects of his teams game has improved over the first two weekends, Grimm explains. “I think we are starting to realize the importance of taking care of the controllable things on our side of the net and we are approaching matches with an increased sense of focus.”

He adds: “I think the impressive thing to me is that we have had some flexibility in our line up and the girls have responded well to that. We had multiple players come in over the weekend and make a positive impact on the match so that was great to see as well.”

Match times are 6 pm on Remembrance Day and 5pm on Saturday (Feb 12).  The games will be webcast on a ‘pay per view’ basis on Canada West TV. Former TRU player Brandon Hewwing will be webcasting both matches this weekend being joined on Friday by former WolfPack women’s player Tori Taneda on Friday and Jared Mitchell on Saturday.
