KELOWNA - Make sure your celebration of Culture Days on the last weekend of September includes a visit to the Kelowna Art Gallery. Join us for three days of fun and free activities that the whole family will enjoy.

On Saturday, Sept. 26, from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m., we will be hosting an Art Party – a full free day of indoor and outdoor art activities, behind-the-scenes tours, guided exhibition tours, and more. Everyone is welcome. Creative juices will be flowing (literally) with arty drinks and treats available. Come paint on our sidewalks, our windows, our mural, or even on your face. Instructors will be on hand to help guide participants through the activities. In addition, artist Elizabeth D’Agostino – a printmaker from Toronto – will be facilitating printmaking activities in our Art Lab, and she will also be offering guided tours of her solo show, entititled Makeshift that opens here that day.

Visitors will be offered behind-the-scenes tours led by curatorial staff of our back of house, including our permanent collection storage area. This area is normally off limits to the public so it will be a fascinating look at what goes on at a Gallery behind the exhibition areas. Tours begin at 11:30 a.m. and continue once an hour on the half-hour until 2:30 p.m.

Guided exhibition tours of two of the four captivating exhibitions on view will be offered starting at 11 am, continuing on the hour until 3 pm. Visitors will join a knowledgeable guide to explore the fascinating works in Jeroen Witvliet: Wayfarer and Elizabeth D’Agostino: Makeshift.

On Sunday, Sept. 27, from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m., children and families will celebrate culture in the Okanagan by selecting their favourite Canadian animals and using acrylic paint to create their own unique paintings. This special Family Sundays activity will be free for all participants. It will be led by the Gallery’s helpful instructors, who will also provide age-appropriate information about the current exhibitions on view.

On Friday, Sept. 25, from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m., join us for opening reception for Elizabeth D’Agostino: Makeshift. The artist will be in attendance and will offer remarks at 7 p.m. This is a free event, open to members and guests by invitation. Please note that this event will have beer and wine available for purchase so will be limited to guests ages 19-plus.

The Kelowna Art Gallery is located at 1315 Water Street in downtown Kelowna.
