PENTICTON - The next sweltering summer weekend afternoon you may want to check out a unique trail opportunity in Penticton.

The city’s rapidly developing reputation as a craft beer enclave is about to be enhanced even more with the launch of Penticton’s new Ale Trail.

The Penticton Ale Trail allows users to hop on a bike and tour the city’s five craft breweries on one’s own schedule, or a tour can be booked through a local operator for guided tours by bike or shuttle, according to a media release.

The five breweries involved — Tin Whistle, Barley Mill, Cannery Brewing, Bad Tattoo Brewing and Highway 97 Brewing — are close enough for an easy bike ride to visit them all.

“Penticton has been a leader of the Okanagan craft beer scene for more than 20 years and we are very proud of our breweries, which include some of B.C.'s oldest and newest craft breweries," Travel Penticton executive director Tom Tischik says in the release.

Sunshine Coast Tourism’s executive director Paul Kamon says having an Ale Trail right in the heart of wine country makes a lot of sense.

"There is a funny saying amongst winemakers that a gallon of beer is needed to produce a bottle of wine," Kamon says in the release.

Check out the B.C. Ale Trail website for more information.
