Too good to be true video game offer is true

BUT BE PREPARED TO BE DISAPPOINTED

KELOWNA – It started Friday with tweets from Best Buy and Future Shop. Their outlets in Canada were offering free copies of Call of Duty: Ghosts, Battlefield 4 and Assassin’s Creed IV: Black Flag.

All you have to do to get the free video game is trade-in any current generation console game.

The deal took effect on Saturday and runs until Monday, Nov. 11.

Now that you’re pumped, here’s the bad news.

The deal isn’t available at the Best Buy and Future Shop stores in Kelowna because of a city of Kelowna bylaw aimed at pawnshops. According to the woman who answered the phone (she didn’t want to give her name) at Kelowna’s Best buy, the byalw doesn’t allow businesses to offer the trade-in deal.

There’s more bad news.

If you are planning to head to the Future Shop locations in Vernon or Kamloops, they are already out of stock of the 3 games. Both locations ran out of the games Saturday morning.

The Financial Post is reporting that the unique offer is a chance for the companies to promote their used game and trade-in programs which makes sense since the retailers aren’t known for that.

According to Future Shop’s blog, the used game offer has attracted incredible response at their stores across the country. The tweets below in the slide show prove that.
