PENTICTON - Some people call him a Space Cowboy, while others refer to him as the Gangster of Love. Whatever your preference, those who love the blues infused classic rock sound of the Steve Miller Band can enjoy a live concert at the South Okanagan Events Centre next Friday.
With more than 30 million records sold over a 40 year career, the band has earned a spot in pop culture, with songs occasionally featured in movies and television. Their first hit single in 1973, The Joker, made it all the way to No. 1 and their Greatest Hits 1974-78 became one of the greatest selling albums of all-time, with millions sold each year until the end of the century. Popular titles include, Fly Like an Eagle, Jet Airliner and Jungle of Love. In 2010, Miller released Bingo! earning him a nomination by the Blues Foundation for Blues Rock Album of the year. He followed that success with Let Your Hair Down, released in 2011.
The Steve Miller Band is scheduled to appear April 11, at 7:30 p.m. and they're bringing along special guest Matthew Curry.
