VERNON - The Vernon and District Performing Arts Centre proudly presents God is a Scottish Drag Queen on Friday Oct. 28, 2016 at 8 p.m.

From critically acclaimed and award winning comedian Mike Delamont comes the hit one-man show God is a Scottish Drag Queen. God, dressed in a floral power suit, comes to skewer everything from Justin Bieber to the Pope in an unforgettable night of laughter.

This 70 minute one-man show has received such acclaim as Critics Choice Best Comedy at the Orlando Fringe Festival, Pick of the Fringe in Victoria, Vancouver, Edmonton, Winnipeg, and Orlando, and nominees for Best English Production at the Centaur Theatre and Best Comedy at Just For Laughs in Montreal. The award winning show has now sold out major houses across North America.

God is a Scottish Drag Queen is based on the character created by comedian Mike Delamont and playwrite Jacob Richmond for the hit cult cabaret Atomic Vaudeville. In 2011, Delamont turned all of the sketches he had written into a full hour long show and began to tour it on the Fringe Festival circuit to massive critical acclaim. Today, God is a Scottish Drag Queen (and its sequels) are among of the highest grossing shows on the international fringe circuit and Delamont is an 18-time Best of the Fest winner.

Based on the west coast, Mike Delamont is an original cast member of the cabaret Atomic Vaudeville and has been performing one man shows since 2010. He has appeared on CBC's The Debaters, SiriusXM's Top Comic, Halifax Comedy Festival, Just For Laughs and is a three time Canadian Comedy Award Nominee.

Beginning his stand up career in 2011, Mike has since played the Rio Hotel & Casino in Las Vegas, as well as the Upright Citizens Brigade in New York. In 2013 he was nominated for a Canadian Comedy Award for Break Out Year. In 2014 he made his television debut with two gala performances for the Halifax Comedy Festival, as well as a taped set for the world famous Just For Laughs Festival in Montreal. As a corporate clean comedian, Mike has toured with the Investors Group National Comedy Tour in both 2013 and 2014.

Appropriate for ages 14 and up due to some coarse language. Tickets for God is a Scottish Drag Queen are $25 for adults, $22 for seniors and $20 for students and are now on sale through the Ticket Seller by calling 549-SHOW (7469) or online.
