KELOWNA - A stolen minivan was recovered and three Kelowna residents arrested Monday night after a ‘high risk traffic stop’ at a hotel parking lot near Orchard Park Shopping Centre.

The vehicle, which was reported stolen from the 200 block of Glen Park Drive on Jan. 9, was located by an officer driving in the 2200 block of Harvey Avenue around 10:45 p.m., last night, Jan. 11.

The officer went in pursuit, with emergency lights and sirens activated. The vehicle pulled into a rear parking lot of a hotel in the 2100 block of Harvey Avenue and additional officers attended the scene to help assist in the ‘high risk traffic stop’.

The suspects were ordered from the vehicle one at a time and taken into custody without incident, Const. Jesse O’Donaghey says in a release.

The 34-year-old driver faces potential charges of possession of property obtained by crime over $5,000 and driving while prohibited. A 41-year-old passenger, a Kelowna woman with no fixed address, remains in custody on an outstanding unrelated warrant for her arrest. Both appeared in court this morning.

A 24-year-old passenger with no fixed address was released from custody and is not expected to face any charges.
