LAKE COUNTRY - A woman’s phone containing photos of her deceased son was stolen from her parked car in Lake Country last weekend.

While out paddle boarding on Wood Lake between 5 p.m. to 5:40 p.m. on Sunday, May 7., thieves broke into her car parked on the southern-most pullout in Lake Country on the Pelmewash Parkway, according to a media release from Central Okanagan Crime Stoppers.

The passenger door on her car was jimmied. Her purse and a black LG3 smartphone with a blue case were stolen.

Crime Stoppers says the purse and its contents were found the next day, near Oyama on the Pelmewash Parkway. Cash, a Quail’s Gate Winery gift card and a Walmart gift card were removed from the purse.

The phone, which contains photos of her deceased son, has yet to be recovered.
