KELOWNA – The most popular radio station in Kelowna is not from Kelowna at all.
According to Canadian audience measurement organization Numeris, Penticton-based Country 100.7 jumped up six per cent from the fifth highest market share in March and April to number one with 16.7 per cent of listeners tuning in during the months of September and October.
CBC Radio One was close behind with 16.3 per cent followed by Sun FM with 13.6.
The last time the numbers were released in June, EZ Rock and Sun FM held the top two spots with 15.7 and 14.5 per cent respectively. By the end of October EZ Rock had fallen to fourth place and Sun FM to third.
Kelowna’s AM 1150 went from fourth place in June with 12.3 per cent to fifth with 8.4 per cent.
CBC Radio One climbed one spot, increasing their share from 13.2 to 16.3.
K96 placed sixth with 6.1 per cent of listeners followed by Power 104 with 4.8. The Juice and Q103 took the last two spots with 4.5 and 3.2.
Numeris releases their ratings twice every year, once in the summer and again in the fall. The numbers are based on weekly surveys of randomly selected listeners over an eight week period. Information on how you can participate in the surveys can be found at the Numeris website.
