KAMLOOPS – Here's the very latest from the City of Kamloops to help you plan your commute over the coming week.
The southwest off ramp of the Overlanders Bridge remains closed to all traffic. Detour signs are directing all southbound traffic to Seymour Street.
Heavy trucks are asked to avoid the Overlanders Bridge and use alternate routes. All heavy trucks travelling southbound must detour to the Trans-Canada Highway via Seymour Street. Trucks are not permitted access to First Avenue.
A minimum of one lane in each direction on the bridge deck remains open this week.
With heavier than normal traffic congestion through the Columbia Street construction zone, the city is asking drivers not to block intersections and to use alternate routes if possible. Traffic is restricted to the east and westbound curb lanes with a minimum of one travel lane in each direction.
The south sidewalk between Third and Sixth Avenue remains closed. Pedestrians are advised to use the north sidewalk and the crosswalk at Third and Fourth Avenues to access the south side businesses or hospital.
Crews on Twelfth street will be preparing the road base and starting installation of concrete curbing between Tranquille Road and Lethbridge Avenue.
Residents can expect intermittent, full closures with detours in effect.
