KAMLOOPS - March 22 is World Water Day and to mark the day, the Kamloops chapter of Council of Canadians will be screening Water on the Table, a film which succinctly addresses the essence of Maude Barlow's crusade to have water declared an international human right, protected from the free market, and it features four debates with her critics.
In view of the latest reports on water crises in Brazil, California and Pakistan, among many others, this film is a timely reminder that the world’s fresh water resources are a scarce, finite resource which desperately need thoughtful management to ensure that they are available to people as a basic human right.
This, the third film in the Films for Change series, will be shown Wednesday, March 25, at the TRU Alumni Theatre (Clocktower Building). Doors open at 6:30 p.m., the film starts at 7 p.m., and it will be followed by a panel discussion on local water issues and a question period. Admission is by donation.
The Films for Change series ('cause a change is gonna do us good) is sponsored by the TRU Sustainability Office and features a film on the last Wednesday of every month, hosted by a local non-profit each time, and followed by a facilitated discussion.
