PENTICTON - The Dropkick Murphys are bringing their blended sound of adrenaline-pumping American-Irish punk music to Penticton this fall with a show at the South Okanagan Events Centre on September 28.

The band was formed in 1996 and members have come a long way from where they started in the basement of a barbershop in Boston. Ten years later, in 2006, their hit song “I’m Shipping Up to Boston” was featured in the Academy Award-winning movie The Departed.

They bring a new sound to punk music by incorporating bagpipes and traditional Irish sound into their songs. Over the years the band has released eight full-length albums, several EPs and a live concert DVD.

The Dropkick Murphys view themselves and the audience as one in the same and aim to put on a show that fans of all ages can dance and sing along to.

Tickets for the show are $28* general admission. The amount will increase on the day of the show (*plus applicable service fees). Tickets can be purchased at www.ValleyFirstTix.com, by telephone at 1.877.SOEC.TIX (763.2849), or in person at the Valley First Box Office (at the SOEC) and Wine Country Visitor Centre.

Tickets go on sale Friday, June 27 at 10 a.m.
