KAMLOOPS - As families gather to feast on turkey, mashed potatoes and stuffing this long weekend others in the city are coming together to make sure the less fortunate do not miss out on a hearty Thanksgiving meal.

The New Life Mission is once again hosting a Thanksgiving dinner on Monday from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. A fundraising drive has been in place to sponsor a meal and earlier this week the group was accepting food donations including turkeys for the Thanksgiving meal.

While the Mission provides meals six days a week all year long, as well as clothes, blankets and personal hygiene items to the less fortunate, the Thanksgiving dinner is always a special one with even more guests, and even more volunteers.

On Thursday evening the group put a call out on social media for more volunteers after a group of 10 volunteers said they would no longer be able to help serve. Those wishing to take a break from their busy long weekend and volunteer can call New Life Mission Outreach at 250-434-9898.

Earlier this week, the Rotary club hosted a Thanksgiving dinner attended by 132 families.
