QUEBEC CITY, Que. - Canada is through to the World Group of the Fed Cup after sweeping the first the first three matches of its playoff tie with Slovakia.
Montreal's Eugenie Bouchard, ranked 18th in the world, defeated Jana Cepelova 7-6 (6), 6-3 Sunday to clinch the series and send Canada to the prestigious World Group for the first time.
It was the third straight singles win for Canada after Bouchard beat Kristina Kucova and Aleksandra Wozniak of Blainville, Que., defeated Cepelova on Saturday.
