Temporary truck traffic increase on Lakeshore Road

Beginning Tuesday, March 8 between 7 a.m. and 3:30 p.m. until mid-March, residents and motorists can expect increased truck traffic along Lakeshore Road between the Cook Road Boat Launch and Rotary Beach.

KELOWNA - Beginning Tuesday, March 8 between 7 a.m. and 3:30 p.m. until mid-March, residents and motorists can expect increased truck traffic along Lakeshore Road between the Cook Road Boat Launch and Rotary Beach.

The boat launch area was dredged and the excess sand was being stored onsite for dewatering and screening.

Approximately 60 truckloads carrying 500 cubic metres of sand from the boat launch area will now be relocated to nourish the south shoreline of Rotary Beach, near Manteo Resort. While the transfer process is underway, the south end of the beach will be closed.

This beach area has been eroding for decades and will benefit from restoration efforts.

The dredging at the boat launch was done to address the high volume of sand that was moving aggressively from Mission Creek and affecting boat launch operations.
