VERNON - Two teens suffered serious injuries including broken bones when they crashed a compact car into a pole in the area of 48 Avenue and 20 Street late last night.
An officer happened upon the single vehicle accident at about 11:45 p.m. The Honda Civic was flipped, lying on the passenger side against the power pole, facing west at the intersection. Both the 17-year-old driver and 16-year-old passenger, both male and both from Vernon were trapped and needed help from the Vernon Fire Department to get out.
They were transported to Vernon Jubilee Hospital.
B.C. Hydro was called to inspect the pole for damage. Because of the seriousness of injuries, an RCMP traffic analyst was called to help with the investigation.
Mounties don't think alcohol was a factor, but the file is still under investigation.
