Suspicious man sought by police after trying to pick up teenage girl in Kamloops

KAMLOOPS - The search is on for a man who demanded a 17-year-old girl get into his vehicle this afternoon.

The incident happened shortly after noon today, March 8, near Springhill Place and Springhill Drive in the Sahali area. RCMP say a man drove past the teenager, who was waiting at a bus stop, then did a U-turn and came back to her. He lowered his passenger side window and asked if she wanted a ride but when she declined he yelled at her to get in the car several times.

The man is described as Caucasian with a ‘bit of a tan’, is approximately 30 years old and weighs about 170 lbs. He has short brown hair and was wearing a dark, short sleeve V-neck shirt and large aviator style sunglasses.

He was driving a white four-door Ford Escort with B.C.-coloured license plates.

The suspect took off when another vehicle pulled onto the street.

The girl was not harmed but was shaken by the encounter.

Anyone who may have witnessed this incident, or with information about it, is asked to call Kamloops RCMP at 250-828-3000 or Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477.
