Suspects caught wearing stolen clothing in Vernon

VERNON - A man and a woman weren't exactly caught in the act, but they were caught in the clothing they allegedly stole from a parked car in Vernon on Saturday.

Vernon RCMP were notified about 11 a.m., Jan. 30, that a vehicle parked near 29 Street and 29 Avenue had been broken into, Const. Jocelyn Noseworthy says. The rear window was broken and numerous items including clothing, change and a backpack were taken from the vehicle.

Not long after, at around 12:30 p.m., the owner of the vehicle noticed a man and a woman wearing the stolen items in broad daylight and alerted police.

A 30-year-old man and 26-year-old woman, both from the area, were arrested and held for court. They’ve had previous dealings with the RCMP.

Vernon RCMP are reminding people to lock up their vehicles and never leave valuables in the car.
