Sunshine, warm temperatures and a solar eclipse start the week in the Okanagan

This morning, Aug. 21, in Enderby on the Shuswap river

OKANAGAN - Sunny skies, some local smoke and an eclipse will start the week in the Okanagan, however, there may be some rain and cooler weather might come midweek.

Environment Canada is calling for a mix of sun and cloud along with a 40 per cent chance of showers Wednesday night, Aug. 23, and Thursday, however, today, Aug. 21, is expected to be mainly sunny with some cloud cover in the afternoon. Conditions this morning are good for those viewing the partial solar eclipse this morning.

Today, it is expected to be mainly sunny throughout the Okanagan. Highs will be around 30 Celsius, according to Environment Canada. There is also local smoke and a special air quality statement in effect.

Tomorrow, the Okanagan should be mainly sunny with temperatures reaching 32 C.

The forecast calls for sunshine and a high of 31 on Wednesday. Overnight, expect cloudy periods, a 40 per cent chance of showers and a low of 15 C.

Thursday, the weather office predicts a mix of sun and cloud with 40 per cent chance of showers and a high of 23 C.

Environment Canada is also predicting a hot and sunny weather on Friday and the weekend.

Normal temperatures in the Okanagan at this time of year are highs of 25 C and lows of 11 C.
