Summerland Steam beat Kelowna Chiefs

There was no love for the Kelowna Chiefs in Summerland on Valentine’s.

The Chiefs suffered a 6-2 loss at the hands of the Steam Friday evening in KIJHL action.

Summerland took control of the game early in the first period, scoring two goals on the power play.

The Steam went on to score three more in the second period before Kelowna was finally able to get on the board with 2:18 remaining thanks to a goal from Adam Beatty. Alex Gran added a goal in the second as well but Kelowna still trailed 5-2.

In the final period, Paulson Lautard added his second of the game and solidified a 6-2 win over the Chiefs.

Both of the Chiefs goals were scored on the power play while Jagger Bowles picked up two assists.

Veteran goaltender Tyler O’Donnell and AP Sam Crowder split the loss between the pipes.

The Kelowna Chiefs continue their road swing with a stop in Osoyoos on Saturday night to face the Coyotes. The Chiefs final regular season home game will be Friday, February 21st against the Summerland Steam.
