A District of Summerland employee is recovering after testing positive for COVID-19.
Acting chief administrative officer Karen Needham said in an email today, Dec. 2, the employee, whose duties did not require public interaction, voluntarily self-isolated before testing positive for the virus and is currently recovering at home with the aid of Interior Health.
Needham says the District has measures in place to take appropriate action in response to COVID-19, using protocols established by the health authority.
Four other staff members deemed to be close contacts with the infected person are also self-isolating and have not been to work.
Interior Health has indicated there was no public exposure and the District acted swiftly and appropriately to deal with the incident.
The District continues to urge residents to follow the protocols in place in order to keep others safe, by wearing a mask, keeping two metres apart, washing hands and monitoring for symptoms.
